Bucks (2nd Grade - 5th Grade)
Bucks (2nd – 5th Grade)
Bucks are mature deer—alert, steady, and ready to lead. Our Bucks class equips older elementary kids to take ownership of their faith. They’re encouraged to read Scripture, pray boldly, serve others, and grow in spiritual wisdom as they prepare for the challenges and opportunities of preteen life.
The Bucks class is designed for growing minds and hearts in 2nd through 5th grade. Meeting during the Sunday School hour (9:45 – 10:45 AM), this class helps older elementary kids dig deeper into God’s Word and see how it connects to their everyday lives.
Each week, Bucks participate in interactive Bible lessons, engaging discussions, and fun activities that challenge them to think, ask questions, and build a personal foundation of faith. Our leaders create a space where kids are encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus and develop friendships rooted in trust and encouragement.
Our Bucks volunteers are background checked, screened, and trained in both child safety and age-appropriate ministry, providing a safe, structured, and spiritually rich environment.
Note: The Bucks class meets only during Sunday School. Parents are asked to pick up their children at 10:45 AM and bring them with them to the worship service at 11:00 AM. We value the role of families worshiping together and encourage children to be part of the service with their parents or guardians.
There is an exception only for 2nd Graders who are checked into Children’s Church. They will be brought into the Worship Center at the end of Sunday School to join the beginning of the worship service. After participating in singing, Scripture reading, and prayer, they will be dismissed with our Deer Park Kids volunteers for age-appropriate spiritual learning. This approach helps introduce children to corporate worship while also engaging them with teaching designed specifically for their age.
